TALLAHASSEE — Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission Chairman Rodney Barreto received a reappointment to the panel Wednesday from Gov. Charlie Crist.
Barreto, 49, founding partner of a Miami public affairs consulting firm, was named to a second term that began immediately and will end Aug. 1, 2011.
The former Miami police officer is active in numerous civil activities, including chairman of the 2007 Super Bowl Host Committee.
The commission regulates fish and wildlife resources and enforces hunting and fishing laws. (February 1, 2007, Associated Press)
December 7, 2006 - The seven-member Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) re-elected Chairman Rodney Barreto and Vice Chairman David K. Meehan for 2007. Barreto, originally appointed to the Commission by Gov. Jeb Bush in 2001, will begin his third term as chairman in January. The Miami- and Tallahassee-based businessman serves as chairman of the 2007 Super Bowl Host Committee and is active in other civic affairs.
August 28, 2006 - Governor Jeb Bush today announced the reappointment of Rodney Barreto to the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Rodney Barreto, 48, of Coral Gables, is a partner with Barreto Cunningham May Dudley Maloy Reyes & Guzzo, LLC, reappointed for a term beginning August 28, 2006, and ending August 1, 2011.
Barreto has been a longtime name to know. That's even truer now that he is Chairman of the 2007 Super Bowl Host Committee. The public affairs expert counts Florida Gov. Jeb Bush as a friend - the governor has twice appointed Barreto to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which has twice elected him chairman. The former City of Miami police officer is also Florida finance co-chair of Florida Attorney General Charlie Crist's gubernatorial campaign.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) elected Rodney Barreto of Miami to serve as chairman for 2006. The seven-member commission elected the new chairman during Thursday’s meeting at Key Largo. Jorge Chamizo was elected Chairman of the Joint Board of Adjustment and Appeals for Leon County and the City of Tallahassee. The Board of Adjustment and Appeals hears and decides appeals of the Leon County Growth Management Code as well as decide variances for residential properties located within the county. |
