Rodney L. Barreto, Partner
His work with Miami-Dade County, state and municipal governments has helped dozens of corporate clients achieve measurable business results by working effectively with public officials, their staffs and relevant organizations to develop and implement winning strategies. Results include devising successful funding, contractual and legislative plans that have positively impacted his clients' bottom line. Mr. Barreto brought more than fifteen years of public policy and corporate business development to Floridian Partners, LLC. In 1987 Mr. Barreto established Marketing Projects, Inc., a public affairs and events management company, which counted a list of blue chip corporations such as ACS, Post Buckley, Parrot Jungle, Bechtel Corporation and Montenay Power Corporation, among its client base. In addition, his professional career has been accompanied by years of successful civic involvement. Mr. Barreto was Miami Dade Chairman of the 1999 Super Bowl XXXIII Host Committee and is presently Chairman for the 2007 Super Bowl Host Committee. He also serves on the Executive Committee of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Barreto has served as City of Miami host Chairman of the 62nd annual U.S. Conference of Mayors and the Vice-Chairman of the Miami Centennial ’96 Celebration and the 1999 Sister Cities International Convention to be held in Miami, and Chairman of the 1999 Breeder’s Cup. He was recently appointed by Governor Bush to a five-year term as a Commissioner on the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and elected to serve from November 20, 2003 through December 31, 2004 as Chairman of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) by his fellow commissioners. From 1989-1997, Mr. Barreto also served as executive director of the Greater Miami Host Committee; a non-profit organization designed to promote South Florida tourism, culture and business development. Under his direction, the Host Committee has created, organized, promoted or participated in the Miss Universe Pageant, the American Society of Travel Agents World Congress, Super Bowl XXIX and created the annual Big Orange New Year’s Eve Celebration in Miami Downtown. In addition, Mr. Barreto serves as a Director/Trustee for Goodwill Industries of South Florida, Inc., Foundation Board Member for Baptist Health System, Director for the Tourist Department Council, Board Director of US Century Bank, Chairman of Sister City of Nassau Bahamas, and served on the Executive Finance Committee for Bush/Brogan 1998 and 2002. Prior to a career in public affairs, he held other executive positions in administration, security, community and employee relations. Mr. Barreto began his career as a City of Miami police officer for six years. A Miami native, he holds a degree in Professional Studies from Barry University. He and his wife Sheila have two children Brittney and Bradley. |
